DESCRIPTION OF EVENT: Opportunity to mingle with alumni, faculty and students in an informal setting. Haas School of Business Associate Professor of Finance, Christine Parlour, will be speaking on various Investment Strategy topics, including: - How to develop well-diversified investment portfolios, and why this is an important investment strategy.
- Using limit orders to reduce transaction costs.
- Differences between the NYSE and NASDAQ trading rules and how they affect securities prices and how investors should trade.
Christine Parlour is Associate Professor of Finance at the Haas School of Business and serves on the Nasdaq Economic Advisory Board. She was a Visiting Economist at the Securities and Exchange Commission and is currently an Associate Editor on five academic journals. Professor Parlour received the GSIA "Excellence in the Classroom" Teaching Award in 2000, the WFA NYSE Best Equity Trading Paper, "Equilibrium in a Dynamic Limit Order Market," in 2004, and the Goldman Sachs Asset Management Quant Award for Best Paper in Review of Finance, "Rationing In IPO's."
